Duties & Responsibilities: Food Safety: The QA Supervisor is responsible for monitoring the systems and controls necessary to ensure the safety of the products delivered to the consumer. These include: • HACCP Program: assuring consistent procedures and proper documentation are followed in regards to the plant CCPs, including prerequisites such as pest control, master cleaning and sanitation, vendor qualification, etc. This is to be implemented by multidisciplinary group, including manufacturing and quality. The system shall be audited and evaluated annually and the results reported to upper management. • GMP Compliance: including conducting periodic (monthly) GMP facility audits with corrective action follow-up, developing and implementing periodic documented employee GMP training. • Allergen Control: material segregation, equipment cleaning and product labeling to ensure undeclared allergens are not introduced into product distribution. • SQF: assist in the development and implementation of supporting policies or programs. Quality Systems: The QA Supervisor is responsible for implementing and managing the systems that ensure delivered product meets or exceeds customer expectations. These include: • CQPs and QPs: monitors final QA acceptance of production and document results on the release spreadsheet. Assures all process QPs are met. • Quality Hold: material (raw, in process, finished or packaging) suspect or determined to not meet specification shall be placed “On Hold” in inventory and physically quarantined. Only the QA Manager or designee has the authority to release material from Quality Hold. • Product Specifications: to be developed as a consensus between Product Development, Sales and the Customer. Critical attributes are to be defined as objectively as possible. • Development of in-process and finished goods sampling and analysis sufficient to comply with specifications and standards. • Records and reporting are to be maintained accurately and distributed in a timely manner to support process control, product release and support customer and regulatory documentation requirements. • Document Control: a controlled manufacturing process is required. The means to control process is through documentation (specific policies, procedures, material specifications and records). The documents themselves must be controlled (review, approval, issue and revision). • Product Trace and Recovery: To prepare for the event unsafe product is introduced to distribution, a system shall be in place to rapidly identify, isolate and recover specific lot of material. The system shall be recorded and reported to upper management with suggestions for possible improvement. • Kosher Certification: Vendors shall be certified, material shall be segregated and records shall be maintained to support label claims of product kosher status. Quality Reporting: • It is the responsibility of the QA Supervisor to supply timely and accurate reports of product quality data and analysis to both internal and external customers such as: o Certificates of Quality/Analysis/Guarantee to customers. o Process control information to Manufacturing. o Compliance reports required by regulatory agencies. o Quality Key Performance Indicator reports to Management. Regulatory Compliance: • The QA Supervisor is the secondary contact between the company and product related regulatory agencies (FDA, State and local Health Departments and agencies licensing kosher). The QA Manager is the primary contact. It is the responsibility of the manager to maintain necessary records, prepare required reports and keep management informed of the compliance of each facility with each agency. • The QA Supervisor may be assigned some environmental compliance responsibly. Supervision of Reports: • Under the direction of the QA Manager, the QA Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of the Quality Department staff in compliance with all company personnel and safety policies and procedures; provides leadership, mentoring and process direction to the Quality Technicians; analyzes and resolves, or assists employees in solving work related problems; trains the lab group on quality procedures and SOPs; provide employees ongoing coaching and feedback. • Enforce all company rules in a fair and consistent manner. • Follows all OSHA safety rules, GMPs, and all food safety laws and regulations. • Other duties as assigned. Country Home Bakers, LLC, a subsidiary of J&J Snack Food Inc., a highly successful and leading manufacturer of nutritional snack foods, has an exciting career opportunity for an Refrigeration Technician in the Maintenance Department. The facility is located in the Atlanta Georgia area. Key Responsibilities: Perform PM Service to the Plant’s refrigeration system, consisting of single air cooled units, to spiral conveying systems, Protocol units, HVAC units and refrigerated coolers and coils. Service the electronic control systems, Variable Frequency Drives, Fractional horsepower units, and HVAC package units. Read gauges and instruments and adjusts mechanisms such as valves, controls and pumps to control level of fluid pressure and distribution in systems. Trouble shoots, repairs and overhauls equipment such as compressors, pumps, air handlers, air dryers, heat exchangers, other mechanical equipment Commission plant refrigeration systems to be in alignment with CHB refrigeration standards. Respond to emergency/breakdown situations to resolve immediate safety, loss of sale and product concerns. Communicates effectively with all levels of management and hourly Associates on the Plant floor Technical knowledge of refrigeration, Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in refrigeration. Experienced in all areas of refrigeration and HVAC maintenance systems. Ability to work a variety of schedules as required (including nights, weekends and holidays). Overtime may be required at times. Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation. Able to work in restricted areas, climb ladders/platforms and work at high levels. Must possess maintenance mechanic skills. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, ability to work with co-workers in a team environment. Must provide industrial tools. Other tasks may be assigned as needed Position Requirements: Work requires a high school level of knowledge in order to prepare reports, keep records and/or deal effectively with people. Must be able to gather and interpret data. Summary: Strong mechanical and/or electrical aptitude is required Experience with Refrigeration Systems is a plus. Responsible for leading maintenance team, on-the-floor troubleshooting, decision-making and project engineering support. Accountable to the team members for removing obstacles, solving problems, setting direction and empowering a team to achieve their performance improvement results. Act as a technical resource to help achieve manufacturing goals in the areas of safety, cost, quality and service to customers. Ability to hold direct reports accountable is a MUST, Mentor, train and progress in a highly developed team based work environment. Develops and maintains preventative maintenance programs and spare parts inventory to ensure compliance, maximize production, and reduce costs. Essential Functions and Basic Duties: Hires and trains maintenance staff, provides performance evaluations and makes salary recommendations as required. Analyzes and develops plans for the prevention of equipment related downtime (equipment reliability. Directs activities of maintenance staff in changeover, repair, preventive maintenance and calibrations. Prepares annual labor and expense operating budgets, evaluates and ensures achievement of budget objectives Maintains compliance to safety and quality requirements on all production and shop equipment. Adheres and manages to the companies GMP and Food Safety policies and procedures Requirements: Bachelor~s degree preferred, NOT required. Must be open to working 2nd or 3rd shift. Six Sigma or TPM experience is a plus Candidates with an Engineering Degree are highly preferred. Ability to work in a fast paced, high intensity environment Experience with high-speed packaging and automated processes is a plus. Demonstrated people and leadership skills with track record of achieving positive business results. Knowledge of CMMS Maintenance Scheduling software is highly desirable. 3+ years of Maintenance Supervisory experience from within a Food & Beverage Manufacturing Facility is preferred. Experience with PLC controls, general troubleshooting of mechanical or electrical equipment and PM programs is also desired. • Monitor machine operation to ensure flow of daily production in keeping consistent with the Shift Supervisor’s direction that control and improve: • production yield and efficiency of facility against standard • safety • leadership • cleanliness • food safety and quality • adherence to SOP’s • employee ownership and understanding of product and process and overall teambuilding • employee welfare • other assignments as assigned by the Shift Supervisor • Continuously take independent action, perform the daily paperwork, and provide corrective action recommendations to the Shift Leader in the areas of: • safety • quality • cleanliness • yield & efficiency • other duties as assigned by the Production Manager • Keep machine and area clean and free of straps, plastic, and boxes throughout the shift and before the next shift arrives. • Communicate with area Lead to keep production flowing smoothly and start up of lines. • Report broken or inoperable equipment or any abnormal noises to the Shift Supervisor. • Set up tape machines, box code daters, load weight machine and metal detectors with correct information. • Set up belts, case sealers, package codes, and keep inventory on all numbers and supplies needed for coders. • Adjust tray rails for trays being used throughout the day. • Maintain accurate case count for changeovers and set up packaging for changeovers. • Check on all areas of packaging for proper film, weight settings, casing, and skid loading throughout the day. • Help with set up of next shift. • Continuous checks on proper code dates and sealing of all packages. • Other duties as assigned by the Production Shift Supervisor. • Maintain annual training in Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Defense, PPE, and OSHA regulated programs.
