Lemons, meaning “golden apples” and originating in India, used to be grown only as ornamental trees in Mediterranean gardens. Then, over 1,500 years ago, Egyptian peasants started making a drink called “qatarmizat” from lemon juice and honey. This slowly evolved into what we think of today as lemonade!
Lemonade is perfectly refreshing as a drink, but in 1996, Minute Maid® decided to make it even cooler for their customers at the Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. This frozen version, originally sold in a cup, was the second best-selling product at the Olympics that year (beating Diet Coke and barely falling short of Coca Cola)!
The latest twist on this tasty treat is its easy-squeeze tube – just as good as the original, but now twice the fun and none of the mess!
